Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic is in the first season of a five-year rookie max extension worth $215.1 million. There was little question he would extend, especially after being named to two All-NBA teams and earning a Rose Rule escalator. Doncic has a player option in the final season, so the front office has worked to do right now.

The Mavs have three years to build a legitimate title contender around number 77, and it starts in the summer of 2023. Dallas will give their first-round pick to the Knicks from the original Kristaps Porzingis trade, but after the draft, they will have a full cupboard of first-rounders to deal. The Mavericks need to acquire a second star that helps push them into serious title contention.

For his part, Luka has always been committed to winning in Dallas, and he reaffirmed his commitment in a recent interview with WFAA. Here is a look at the latest.

Doncic did a wide-ranging interview with WFAA where he discussed his goal to bring a championship to Dallas, his joy on the court, and more. Luka had this to say when asked about fans worrying number 77 will leave the Mavericks.

"I don’t think they are worried about it. I’ve got five years left here, so I don’t think they should be worried about it."

Doncic was amused by the question, and he was smiling while giving his answer. The interviewer even followed by asking Doncic if he was committed to the Mavericks, and Luka quickly said yes. Fans can listen to the entire interview below.

Fans should not worry about Luka Doncic leaving. They should enjoy the ride however long it lasts. Doncic is putting up historic numbers on a nightly basis, and he is walking highlight reel. It is a joy to watch him play every night, and they should be thankful number 77 plays for the Mavericks.

He wants to win in Dallas, so the front office needs to step up and find him the pieces to do so. It won’t be easy, but they need to do it. Stay tuned to see how the roster shapes up and to enjoy what Luka Doncic does next.
