Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic is unquestionably one of the five best players in the NBA. He has made first-team All-NBA for three straight years as he has averaged 28.3 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 8.7 assists per game. Doncic is arguably the best shot creator in the league, and he continues to get better.

HoopsHype recently polled 15 executives, and Luka was the unanimous selection for the best player under 25 years old to build around. Doncic just led Dallas to the conference finals, and he is on pace to go down as one of the all-time greats.

There was no question about who execs wanted to build around most, but can anyone change that? Who are the best young players in the league, and do they have any chance of taking Luka’s throne this season?

Jayson Tatum and Ja Morant each received second-place votes in this poll. Tatum just led the Celtics to the NBA Finals, but would a championship even vault him over Doncic? The 24-year-old would need to make a significant leap with his playmaking and control of the offense, which seems unlikely. Morant had the Grizzlies as the second seed in the Western Conference last season, and he is a bonafide superstar, but catching number 77 seems out of the question.

Evan Mobley landed fourth on the list, and many executives are extremely high on his ceiling. The seven-footer showed early signs of being an all-time great, but he would have to make that leap into a superstar this season. Mobley is a unique talent, but he is still multiple years away from being an All-Star starter and first-team All-NBA member.

Anthony Edwards and Scottie Barnes are two other intriguing names with high ceilings, but none of them can match Luka Doncic. The 23-year-old superstar has already put together a resume worthy of Hall of Fame consideration, and he just keeps improving. His defense will improve this season, and fans know number 77 added a new offensive weapon into his arsenal.

The NBA is full of young stars, and there will be plenty of breakouts this season. Doncic leads the way, but there will be multiple All-Stars that are under 25 years old. Luka will be in the MVP race this season, and he wants to lead the Dallas Mavericks to the championship. Can he do it? Stay tuned to find out.
