Former Dallas coach makes bold prediction for Mavericks' season
By Noah Weber
The Dallas Mavericks had a rough start to the preseason on October 5, as they fell to the Minnesota Timberwolves 111-99.
Dallas' starters had an extremely slow start to the game, and they trailed for the entire game. This was the worst possible way to start the preseason, but everyone stayed healthy, and three of the five starters were new players. The only returning starters were Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.
But things could be worse.

Doncic ended up having a great first half, as he finished with 25 points, but he didn't play at all in the seco
Before Dallas' game against Minnesota, one former Mavs coach took to Twitter to predict how the Mavs would do this season. It was an extremely lofty prediction, but it's not impossible.
Former Mavs assistant coach and WNBA player Kristi Tolliver predicted that Dallas will finish with the No. 1 offense in the NBA and finish in the top half on defense. This is not an easy task by any means, as Dallas was No.6 in the league last year for offensive rating and No. 25 for defensive rating.
Dallas will have to improve drastically to make this happen, and today's performance didn't give many indications that this would be a reality. Tolliver's prediction can still come true, as the preseason just started, but Dallas is going to have to take a big jump on both ends to even get close to this.
If Tolliver's prediction comes true, Dallas would likely be one of the best teams in the NBA and be contending for a championship come next summer. Dallas' offense was elite last year, but their defense held them back.
Hopefully Tolliver's prediction can come true, and the Mavs will dominate the NBA.
Fans' next chance to watch Doncic and Irving in action will be on October 7 against the Timberwolves in Abu Dhabi.
