Jaylen Brown has close ties to Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd

Brown played one year of college basketball at the University of California, and he was the school’s highest-ranked recruit since Jason Kidd. Both were top-three draft picks and two of the best players in school history.

That allowed the two to bond, while Brown was still in school. He talked about hanging out with then-Milwaukee Bucks head coach Kidd. The two share a bond, and Brown even Tweeted congratulations to J-Kidd when it was announced he was going to be inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.

Could that connection stretching back eight or nine years help convince JB to join the Mavericks? Part of the allure of bringing in Kidd and general manager Nico Harrison was their relationships and ability to attract star talent. Can J-Kidd help close the deal on his fellow Cal alum?

The relationship between the two could not hurt. Jaylen Brown has talked about his close relationship with suspended and soon-to-be former Celtics head coach Ime Udoka. If he is looking for another strong bond with a head coach, look no further than the Dallas Mavericks. It is not just J-Kidd that Brown knows well in Dallas.
