5 Dallas Mavericks who won awards you definitely forgot about

2. Jason Kidd - 2012 NBA Sportsmanship Award
In sports, sportsmanship and class are important to have, and only one Maverick has ever won the award. The only player to ever win the award in Mavericks history is current head coach Jason Kidd when he won it back in 2012.
The Sportsmanship Award is awarded to the player who best represents the ideals of sportsmanship on the court.
Throughout his NBA career, Kidd has been one of the best leaders while on the court. Even going back to his New Jersey Nets tenure, Kidd was well respected as a leader throughout the NBA. But, when Kidd made his return to Dallas in 2008, his veteran presence and sportsmanship became better being a true and tested veteran.
The 2011-12 season for the Mavericks was a tough one. The Mavs were swept by the eventual Western Conference champion Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round of the 2012 NBA Playoffs and were unable to defend their NBA title.
Kidd's tenure in Dallas would end after winning the Sportsmanship Award in 2012 after he signed with the New York Knicks. Kidd would win the Sportsmanship Award again with the Knicks the following season. Kidd is the first player in NBA history to win the Sportsmanship Award in back-to-back seasons and was the second player in NBA history to win the award twice.
