6 Dallas Mavericks who benefit the most from Spencer Dinwiddie signing

2. Naji Marshall
When the Dallas Mavericks signed Naji Marshall on the opening day of free agency, it was a move that signaled the end of Derrick Jones Jr.'s time in Dallas. Jones Jr. was a huge piece for Dallas throughout the playoffs and all season long, and he ended up being elite for the Mavs while playing on a veteran minimum contract.
Jones Jr. left the Mavs for the LA Clippers, and now it's Marshall's time to shine. Marshall will likely be the first forward off the bench considering that Klay Thompson is the guaranteed starter, and he is someone who will benefit from the Spencer Dinwiddie signing.
Last season for the New Orleans Pelicans, Marshall averaged 7.1 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 0.7 steals per game while shooting 38.7 percent from downtown. Marshall's 3-point shooting took a massive step last season, and now he has the chance to improve even more in Dallas.
The Dinwiddie signing directly benefits Marshall because the two will likely share the court plenty together, and Dinwiddie excels at creating open shots for his teammates. Marshall also won't be forced to guard too many quick guards while sharing the floor with Dinwiddie (although he moves his feet well and is a great defender), and he can stick to his specialty of locking down wings.
Dinwiddie is an underrated defender, and he and Marshall have the potential to form a fun duo off the bench.
