2. Luka Doncic

Luka Doncic, the Mavericks' highest paid player being on this list may confuse you, but let me explain.

Doncic is making over $40 million next season, but his impact on the Mavs is almost priceless. He has helped this team consistently make the playoffs (other than his rookie year and last year) and has surpassed everyone's expectations that they had for him.

Doncic has career averages of 27.6 points, 8.6 rebounds, 8.0 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. He has established himself as one of the best players in the NBA and has the chance to grab his first-ever Most Valuable Player trophy this year.

It appears that Doncic has taken his conditioning to the next level this summer, and has looked spectacular in the FIBA World Cup preparation games. Something seems different about this offseason, and Mavs fans could finally get the "Skinny Luka" that they've wanted for the past few years.

Doncic signed a rookie max contract extension in the summer of 2021, and we listed him as overpaid because of how much the salary cap has gone up in the last few years. He will be tied for the 17th highest-paid player in the NBA next season, and he is undoubtedly a top-five player.

Doncic brings unmatched intensity and passion every time he steps on the floor, and fans should be excited for this season.
