5 trades for Dallas Mavericks to land a starting power forward
By Jack Simone
1. Grant Williams
This is a move that has been rumored as of late, as the Dallas Mavericks have reportedly been interested in adding Grant Williams in free agency via sign-and-trade.
Williams would be a perfect starting power forward option for the Mavericks to roll with, as he would give them a great mix of defensive versatility and offensive firepower.
Defensively, Williams is quick enough to keep up with players on the perimeter, but he’s also strong enough to guard some of the biggest centers in the league, such as Joel Embiid and Nikola Jokic.
As for his offense, Williams has turned himself into one of the best three-point shooters around the league, which would give Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving a great kick out option.
The Boston Celtics would probably like to get a bit more value in return for Williams, but if they decide they’re ready to move on, adding Tim Hardaway Jr. wouldn’t be the worst-case scenario.
Hardaway Jr.’s three-point shooting and shot creation would give Boston a bit of a boost on the wing - a position where they could use a bit more depth behind Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum.
They would lose out on the defense of Williams, but again, if the two sides can’t come to an agreement on a contract, then a sign-and-trade would be the best option for the Celtics.
