Will the Dallas Mavericks acquire Coby White before the trade deadline?

The Mavs will be in the market for a playmaking guard before February’s deadline, and they will be looking to buy low on an underperforming option. Dallas owes their 2023 first-round pick to the Knicks from the original Kristaps Porzingis, but they will have a full cupboard of firsts to deal next summer. The Mavericks want to acquire a second star, so finding cheap upgrades will be the goal during this season.

Coby White fits the bill of what the Mavs are looking for. His defense has been subpar in his first three-plus NBA seasons, but he has the size and athleticism to hold his own on that end of the floor. Do Jason Kidd and the Mavericks think they can bring out better defense in the 22-year-old? If so, that only increase the team’s interest in the talented guard.

Coach Kidd said after Tuesday’s game it is too early to be looking at trades, but Dec. 15 will be here before fans know it. White is certainly an option that the Mavericks will consider, but the cost will determine if a deal gets done.

Do not rule out the Dallas Mavericks trading for Coby White. A lot will happen between now and the trade deadline, but these rumors are something to watch between now and February. Stay tuned for all the latest on the Mavs at The Smoking Cuban.
