5. Dorian Finney-Smith

If you asked any Mavs fan right now if they would bring back Dorian Finney-Smith, almost every single one would say yes without even thinking about it. It's probably the same for Nico Harrison and the Mavericks front office. Finney-Smith became the heart and soul of Dallas very quickly during the 2021-22 NBA season.

Adding Finney-Smith would be a dream come true for many, and his expertise and effort on the defensive end would instantly be felt. He would immediately become a day-one starter. A wing rotation of Finney-Smith, Olivier-Maxence Prosper, Grant Williams, and Derick Jones Jr. would turn heads.

Unfortunately, the Dallas Mavericks would likely need to give up one of their young pieces in a trade to acquire Finney-Smith once again. But if the Mavs could somehow keep Prosper out of that deal, there's no doubt Finney-Smith would become a mentor to the young forward.

Having Finney-Smith back in the lineup would mean a lot for Luka Doncic. He would not only get a great locker room addition back, but on the court, Finney-Smith would positively affect both sides of the ball. Alongside Doncic, we saw Finney-Smith's best shooting numbers and on-court production. It would be safe to assume that we would see more of this if Finney-Smith was brought back.

It would be a dream come true for many, but acquiring Finney-Smith would likely need to be a package deal with the aforementioned Nic Claxton, which could make things harder. But it's a deal that would largely benefit the Dallas Mavericks.
