6. Nic Claxton

Nic Claxton has unquestionably become one of the best young centers in the NBA over the last two seasons. In large part, Kyrie Irving vaulted his career to the next level, and this is why the Mavericks should look to add the 24-year-old.

Claxton's emergence alongside Irving would not only elevate to another level if he became a Maverick but adding yet another young generational piece would be intriguing. Doncic and Claxton would instantly become one of the best guard and center combos in the league, and that's not even including Irving in the mix.

Additionally, Claxton becomes an unrestricted free agent at the end of this coming season, so locking him in long-term would be a real option, or conversely, the Mavericks could move on if things went sour.

Trading for Claxton would be the only difficult part on the Mavericks' end. However, the Brooklyn Nets are entering a season where they could potentially pull the trigger and sell away any valuable assets. If the Mavericks want to trade for Claxton, it would need to be done by the trade deadline.

No doubt, adding a youthful center who is proven alongside Doncic and Irving would bolster any Mavericks roster, no matter the circumstance.

Claxton will be a bargain for any team that wants to acquire his skills. At just 24 years old, it will be hard to imagine him going for a low price, so taking advantage of the Nets' current position will be key if the Mavericks want to add him.
