The Dallas Mavericks hold the tenth overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, and fans wonder what they will do with their selection.
Some people want Dallas to trade the pick for a proven player, while others hope Dallas drafts a young player to build a young core around Luka Doncic. Both ways have their benefits, but Dallas can't do both.
One possibility for Dallas is trading back in the draft while gaining an asset. This would help Dallas check off two boxes as they gain a rookie to add to their young core while also adding a veteran-type player.
Dallas Mavericks to host star power forward for a pre-draft visit
Some of the names that Dallas fans seem to want in Dallas are Anthony Black, Jarace Walker, Cason Wallace, and Taylor Hendricks. All four would help Dallas' defense improve and hopefully develop into solid rotational pieces.
Hendricks had a pre-draft workout with the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday morning and confirmed something that will excite Mavericks fans.
Tony East of All Pacers reported that Hendricks said he has an upcoming workout scheduled with the Mavericks, Pistons, Jazz, and Thunder. This should excite Mavericks fans because Hendricks is the exact type of player that Dallas needs and numerous fans want them to take him. Dallas is doing their due diligence on the star forward, and he would have the chance to be elite in Dallas.
He has the type of defensive versatility that could help Dallas get back to playing sound defense and is a solid three-point shooter. Hendricks averaged 15.1 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game in his lone season at the University of Central Florida. He seems like he could be a lock to get drafted by Dallas if he is available at pick ten, and fans should keep their eye out as the draft gets closer.
Stay tuned to see what Dallas decides to do with their pick and if they take Hendricks. Dallas typically holds their cards close to the vest when it comes to pre-draft workouts, so we likely won't hear any details on his upcoming visit.
