8 Dallas Mavericks that fans were wrong about this season
By Noah Weber
4. Josh Green
Josh Green was someone who many Dallas Mavericks fans were confident about going into this season after he signed his three-year, $41 million extension.
He was coming off the best season of his career in which he shot over 40 percent from downtown and started in 21 games. Green was a key piece for Dallas all season long, and he stepped up whenever he was called upon.
Green also put on a show defensively at the FIBA World Cup, and fans couldn't wait to see how much he improved over the summer.
Through 10 games, Josh Green has struggled. Green is averaging 7.8 points and 2.2 rebounds per game while shooting 39.5 percent from downtown. Although those numbers aren't awful, Green hasn't taken the jump that many fans expected him to take.
He has also only started in two games, and is clearly getting outplayed by Derrick Jones Jr. and Tim Hardaway Jr.
Many people expected Green to start before the season, but Jones Jr.'s defensive versatility and transition play have made him the starting small forward. Hardaway Jr. has also been an excellent flamethrower off the bench and has been more effective than Green.
So far, fans were wrong about Green's potential fourth-year jump and the speculation that he would start next to Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.
