8 Dallas Mavericks that fans were wrong about this season
By Noah Weber
6. Tim Hardaway Jr.
Dallas Mavericks guard Tim Hardaway Jr. was in trade rumors all summer, and seemingly every fan wanted him gone. Fans thought his contract was a little too big, and trading him off the team would allow more minutes to open up for Jaden Hardy and Seth Curry.
Despite fans and the front office seemingly wanting him gone, Hardaway Jr. remained in Dallas, and fans have started to temper their narratives about him. He is making a case to be in the running for Sixth Man of the Year, and he has been massive for Dallas thus far.
Hardaway Jr. is averaging 17.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 0.3 steals per game while shooting 38.0 percent from downtown. Considering how difficult most of Hardaway Jr.'s shots are, 38.0 percent from behind the 3-point line is a great number.
After most fans wanted him gone, Hardaway Jr. has been the best player off the bench for Dallas. Even though he seemed a bit confused during training camp when asked about coming off the bench, it seems as if he has embraced this role.
Fans were wrong about Hardaway Jr. because they thought he wasn't important to this team and that Dallas should have shipped him off. After 10 games, Hardaway Jr. has been elite off the bench for Dallas.
