3 Studs, 2 duds in Mavericks’ home loss against hot Clippers
1. Stud - Derrick Jones Jr.
Derrick Jones Jr. has continuously shown that he is the perfect fit for this team. In a very solid performance against the Clippers, Jones Jr. put up 19 points, three rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and one steal, while also shooting 6-11 from the field.
The main goal coming into the season was to have Jones Jr. be one of the best defenders on the team. Not only has he been the best defender, but he has heavily contributed to the team on the offensive side of the floor as well.
In last night's matchup against the Clippers, Jones Jr. showcased his talents of being able to attack the basket and finish above the rim. Due to his unreal athleticism, it’s very hard for opposing teams to be able to contest his shots in the paint.
Once this Mavs team gets fully healthy, expect to see Jones Jr. continue to finish out clutch games for the squad. In a Texas duel tomorrow against the Rockets, Jones Jr. will be a key piece to get the win as he will have to be prepared to guard talented guards Fred VanVleet and Jalen Green.
For all the latest on Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks this season, stay tuned.
