Report: Dallas Mavericks sign fan-favorite guard to contract
By Noah Weber
The Dallas Mavericks made it clear at the end of last season that the team would have a completely new look heading into this season.
Dallas had a rough end to the season, causing them to miss the playoffs, and they needed to bring in more high-level role players to put around Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.
Dallas did that as they acquired Grant Williams, signed Seth Curry, and drafted Dereck Lively II, but losing some of their players from the season before was bittersweet for fans.

One player that Dallas decided not to bring back was Theo Pinson.
Pinson had a great presence on Dallas' bench and in the locker room, but he was never known for his play on the court. He was notorious for talking trash from Dallas' bench during the 2022 NBA Playoffs, but Dallas needed to upgrade their bench this summer, causing them not to re-sign Pinson.
Although it seemed that Pinson wasn't going to be back, it looks as if that has changed over the last few days. A G League trade went down the other day that sent Pinson to the Texas Legends, and today, it was reported that the Mavs had signed Pinson, per Tim Cato of The Athletic.
Cato also reported that Pinson is "likely to end up with the Texas Legends this season."
Update: Cato later reported that Pinson signed with the Legends, not the Mavericks.
It doesn't sound like Pinson will land a guaranteed contract this season, but keeping him around the organization was a good move. His teammates love him and he always brings great vibes.
The Legends should be fun to watch this season, as AJ Lawson and two more Mavs will be on two-way contracts, along with Pinson. Fans will have the chance to watch some future young talent of the Mavs in Frisco, and we could see Olivier-Maxence Prosper in the G League at some point as well depending on how he plays early on.
We'll have you covered with all the latest news on Theo Pinson and the Dallas Mavericks this season, so stay tuned.
