Free agency is just two days away, and the Dallas Mavericks' biggest priority may be easier than expected.

Dallas entered this offseason with a focus on re-signing star point guard Kyrie Irving. They traded for him in February, and the team never reached their full potential with him on their roster. The Mavs sputtered off as the season came to a close, and they missed the playoffs.

That wasn't expected after they traded for Irving, and now it looks like Luka Doncic and Irving could get another shot at this for the next few seasons.

Rumors: Kyrie Irving expected to re-sign with the Dallas Mavericks

NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski was on SportsCenter on Tuesday night and talked about Irving's upcoming free agency. He started by talking about how Irving doesn't have many other places to go other than Dallas, and how that list is "extremely limited" and "almost nil." He then talked about where he thinks Irving will sign.

"The full expectation is that he returns in Dallas."

Wojnarowski then mentioned how Dallas can offer Irving more money than anyone else, and they give him a good chance to win and continue building a team around him and Doncic. He also talked about how most of the negotiating on Irving's side will be about the guaranteed years of his contract.

Irving returning to Dallas has seemed likely for a while now, but this report from Wojnarowski adds more confidence into the hearts of the Mavericks' faithful as it seems Doncic's first-ever co-star is going to remain in Dallas. Mavericks' fans learned last summer to never assume, and this situation is no different.

Irving averaged 27 points, five rebounds, six assists, and 1.3 steals per game in the 20 games he played for the Mavs. He was a great closer for the Mavericks in the fourth quarter and gave the Mavericks a scoring option not named Luka Doncic.

Stay tuned to see what happens with Kyrie Irving's free agency and if he re-signs with the Mavs. We'll have you covered with all the latest news and rumors.
