Richard Sherman makes ridiculous take on former Maverick and new Lakers center
By Noah Weber
The biggest NBA news in a long time broke late on the night of September 5 as the Los Angeles Lakers signed former Dallas Mavericks big man Christian Wood to a two-year contract.
Wood was a major disappointment in Dallas, and everyone knew he wouldn't be back right when the season ended. It was an overall weird season for Wood as his numbers were great, but his play on the court was not.
He showcased that he is still an excellent offensive player, but his defense was lacking. Wood would get lost off-ball and didn't seem fully invested in his role (even Mark Cuban referred to this without saying his name).
Richard Sherman makes puzzling comparison for former Maverick and new Lakers center
It was overall a bad experiment for the Mavs, as they gave up a first-round pick for him.
Now that Wood is with the Lakers, fans are buzzing to see him play in Los Angeles. People are even hyping up the trio of him, LeBron James, and Anthony Davis as one of the best trios in the NBA.
It seems a bit far-fetched right now, and this take by FS1's Richard Sherman shows you that the Lakers fans can be a bit confused when it comes to the Wood signing.
All three "Undisputed" hosts were confused as to why Wood was on the open market for so long, and none of them knew how or why the Lakers got him for so cheap. But that isn't even the worst part.
The worst part is that Sherman compared Wood to Lakers all-time great forward Pau Gasol.
Gasol is a six-time All-Star, four-time All-NBA, and a two-time NBA Champion. And Sherman compared him to a player that has never played in an NBA playoff game in Wood.
Yes, Gasol and Wood have similar stats, but Sherman's whole spiel shows that he doesn't know much about Wood and why he signed so late in free agency. Wood has been a problem for every team that he's played for, and it's universally known that most of his coaches haven't liked him (including Jason Kidd).
His skills are nowhere close to that of Lakers' great Pau Gasol, and Lakers fans should buckle up because Christian Wood may not be the type of player that they're expecting.
Will Christian Wood ever live it to Richard Sherman's comparison to Pau Gasol, or will his time for the Lakers flop?
