The Dallas Mavericks signed Reggie Bullock to a three-year $30 million deal in the summer of 2021. They needed more shooting and defense around superstar Luka Doncic, and Bullock played a key role in the Mavs reaching the conference finals in his first season in Dallas.

The 2022 offseason has not gone as planned. The Mavericks set their sights on bringing back Jalen Brunson, but the 6’1 guard departed for the New York Knicks in free agency. Dallas was also looking for a 3-and-D wing to sign with their taxpayer mid-level exception, but they could not find the right target. It forced Dallas to pivot and add JaVale McGee, but that did not solve the team’s need for a wing.

Reggie Bullock made headlines on July 4 as he reposted two photos to his Instagram story featuring captions about him joining the Philadelphia 76ers. It caused immediate panic among MFFLs, but the 6’6 wing quickly threw water on the situation.

Bullock heard the uproar and sent out the following message on Twitter.

It appears Bullock’s friends are from Philadelphia, and there is nothing to the posts other than the Mavericks wing showing some love to his guys. NBA Twitter loves to overreact and indulge in conspiracy theories, but it appears there is nothing to this one.

The Dallas Mavericks have zero reasons to trade Reggie Bullock. They need another 3-and-D wing to round out their roster, so there is not such a heavy burden on Dorian Finney-Smith and Bullock in the postseason. Trading away a key piece of their roster is not part of the offseason plan unless than can land a second star player. Dallas wants to contend, and Bullock remains a key piece of their success.

Do not expect Reggie Bullock to leave Dallas, and the 31-year-old should be even better next season. He struggled to find his shot early on, but the 6’6 wing is settled and ready to rock. Massive things are coming from Bullock and the Mavs, so stay tuned.
