8. Lethal shooting

The Dallas Mavericks' shooting is one reason the team can win the NBA Finals. It's clear that the NBA has changed over the past couple of seasons, and teams like Dallas are relying on their 3-point shooting to win games. However, this is only important if you convert your attempts and don't live and die by the three.

This is where the Mavericks come into play. The Mavs currently have the 10th-best 3-point shooting numbers in the NBA. They are converting 37.4 percent of their attempts from downtown. This has them tied with the Milwaukee Bucks at ninth and one percent behind the Indiana Pacers at fifth.

One reason for their success is the improved shooting of a handful of players. The team has three players, Dante Exum, Kyrie Irving, and Josh Green, shooting above 40 percent from behind the arc. Three other Mavericks, Luka Doncic, Jaden Hardy, and Tim Hardaway Jr., are converting above 35 percent of their 3-point attempts.

The team's overall shooting has also taken a jump. Last season, Dallas ranked 15th in shooting as they converted 47.5 percent of their field goals. This season, the Mavs have jumped up two slots. Big men Dereck Lively II and Dwight Powell led the way, making above 70 percent of their shots.

The shooting numbers will continue to improve with new additions and the return of Exum, so fans should be excited about the incoming 3-point barrage.
