2. Tim Hardaway Jr.

Tim Hardaway Jr. has been the focal point of trade rumors in Dallas shortly after he was first traded there in February of 2019 as part of the Kristaps Porzingis deal. Hardaway has never been thrown off kilter by these rumors, though, and has remained a consummate professional throughout his tenure in Dallas.

Hardaway Jr. brings a unique mix of scoring to this Dallas squad and will be a nice luxury to have heading into the 2023-24 season. He likely will be thrust into a microwave role off the bench, as the addition of Grant Williams will likely move him out of the starting lineup.

The veteran is poised to enter the third year of a four-year, $75 million contract that descends in value every year and could be a hot name for many playoff teams to go after if he continues his hot shooting from last year.

Hardaway is an extremely streaky player, as his three-point percentage went up nearly five percent after a down year in 2021-22 when he only played in 42 games due to injury. The Mavericks were lucky to have got another chance to sell Hardaway while his value is at least neutral, as they could change given a rocky start to the year.

Hardaway has been heavily rumored as a candidate that could be shipped off in a trade for a starting center ahead of training camp, so we'll see if anything comes to fruition regarding a Tim Hardaway Jr. deal both before and after training camp.
