3. Maxi Kleber

Maxi Kleber was set back last year due to a right hamstring tear suffered in mid-December during a practice that subsequently held him out for 35 games in a row.

He had his occasional standout defensive game or hot shooting night last year, but they were much more few and far between compared to prior seasons. Coming off of a fully healthy offseason, Maxi will be hopeful to take back his role in Dallas and prove that his age and injury history haven't catalyzed a decline in his defense.

The Mavericks handed Maxi a three-year, $33 million extension after the conclusion of the 2022 playoffs. Maxi is on an extremely tradable contract, and the Mavericks may wish to capitalize upon his value if he continues to be less effective on both sides of the ball. The Mavericks must be cognizant of not relying too heavily upon Kleber's defense now that he's on the wrong side of 30 and is showing signs of burning out, or else a trade may become inevitable.

While Kleber could get traded before the start of training camp, its more likely he would get traded mid-season. The last two guys on this list are much more likely to be moved ahead of camp compared to Kleber.
