Ranking the 5 most important Mavericks games of 2023-24 schedule
By Austin McGee
The Dallas Mavericks are looking to rebound after a disappointing year. After last season's debacle, the Mavs put together a solid offseason to potentially compete for a championship in the upcoming year.
Last season, the Mavs missed the playoffs for the first time since 2019, Luka Doncic's rookie season. Over the course of the three years following 2019, the Mavs won at least 40+ games in each season. However, this steak ended as the Mavs finished with a 38-44 record just a season ago.
Dallas entered the offseason with a goal to improve on defense and surround Doncic with a strong supporting cast. The offseason began with Dallas drafting two defensive stalwarts in center Dereck Lively II from Duke and forward Olivier-Maxence Prosper from Marquette. The Mavs also added now-former Sacramento Kings' big man Richaun Holmes via trade on draft night.
In addition, the Mavs prioritized keeping Doncic's wingman in Dallas. The Mavs re-signed guard Kyrie Irving to a three-year pact after trading for him this past season.
The Dallas front office went on to fill the remaining roster spots with shooting, defense, and athleticism. They added forward Grant Williams, guard Seth Curry, combo guard Dante Exum, and high-flying forward Derrick Jones Jr.
With a revamped roster, Mavs fans are hopeful to see how Dallas fares in the upcoming season, and now, they know who they'll be facing when, as the NBA revealed its full schedule on Thursday.
With the full 82-game schedule out, let's take a look at which five nationally televised games are the most important affairs for the Dallas Mavericks.
