5. Markieff Morris

Will Markieff Morris be the veteran voice that the Dallas Mavericks need?

When the Dallas Mavericks traded for Kyrie Irving at the trade deadline last season, they also acquired Markieff Morris in the deal. Morris didn't play much in his first season with Dallas while also battling injuries, but the Mavs decided to re-sign him this summer.

Dallas re-signing Morris was a move that confused some fans at first, but his impact as a leader this season has been huge. Morris was one of the players who stepped up and spoke in the locker room during Dallas' losing streak a few weeks ago and this can't go unnoticed.

His vibes on the bench are also always lively, and he seems to typically be the first one off the bench to congratulate his teammates and offer encouragement. This type of role never gets talked about enough, and Morris fills it perfectly.

Morris' positive vibes and leadership will be huge for the playoffs, and they will need him to bring high energy every night. Mavs fans have seen how important bench players can be for the overall vibes of the team as this was Theo Pinsons's role during the 2022 playoff run.

Pinson excelled in this role, and it looks like Morris could provide this same energy while also being a leader. Morris may not get minutes in the playoffs, but his presence will be felt from the bench.
