Predicting the Dallas Mavericks 2023-24 record based on their schedule
By Brian Sweet
October and November
October Record: 3-1
Wins: Spurs, Nets and Grizzlies
Loss: Pistons
The Mavericks will probably start the season off with a loss to the Detroit Pistons. Cade Cunningham returning from injury will give the Mavericks a good test on defense. Plus, Marvin Bagley and James Wiseman will give the Mavericks' new frontcourt a challenge.
However, they will rebound late in the month against the San Antonio Spurs, Brooklyn Nets, and Memphis Grizzlies. The Spurs will be sending out a very young group of players led by Victor Wembanyama, who was the number one overall pick in this year's draft. The Brooklyn Nets look like another team that the Mavericks should easily take care of early on in the season.
I know the Mavericks had a 1-3 record against the Grizzlies last season, but with all the offseason drama with Ja Morant and not re-signing Dillon Brooks, the Mavericks should be able to beat them while they are still dealing with all the speculation from the media.
November Record: 9-5
Wins: Bulls, Hornets, Raptors, Wizards, Clippers x2, Pelicans x2, Bucks
Losses: Rockets, Lakers, Nuggets, Magic, Kings
The Mavericks will more than likely have a very rough November, as they will go up three teams that went deep in the playoffs last season. They will also likely lose to the Lakers due to their super-stacked roster led by LeBron James.
The defending NBA Champions will also probably beat the Mavericks led by Aaron Gordon, Jamal Murray, and Nikola Jokic. They will be a hard trio to go up against, as they will be looking to repeat as NBA Champions.
There will probably be a surprise loss to the Orlando Magic. The Mavericks were 1-1 against them last season, and it could go either way. I could also see a surprise loss to the Sacramento Kings. Even though the Mavericks were 2-1 against them last season, the Kings had a good playoff run last year, and the team looks energized to run it back this season.
Record after October and November: 12-6
