The Dallas Mavericks just made their fourth trip to the conference finals under owner Mark Cuban, and the future is bright. Luka Doncic is already one of the best players in the world at 23 years old, and the roster around him will him improve as he reaches his prime. Cuban will have to pay big to build a title contender, but he has proven willing, and the Mavs will be a force for years to come.

The Mavericks owner has lived in Dallas since 1982, but he was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. The 63-year-old billionaire has tried to acquire other sports franchises over the years, but the deals never came together. Cuban has proven to be a successful owner as the Mavs have made the playoffs 18 times in 22 years in charge, including winning the championship in 2011, but he has not been able to land a second sports franchise.

Pittsburgh Pirates fans were hoping that Cuban would return to his hometown and buy the MLB team as they have had the worst record in the league over the last four seasons and have reached the postseason just three times since 1992, but the Mavericks owner shot that down on May 30.

The Pirates have refused to spend in recent years, and the results speak for themselves. Supporters were hoping Cuban would buy the team from Robert Nutting, but his response on Twitter was short and to the point.

Mark Cuban is happy running the Dallas Mavericks and starring on Shark Tank. Fans should not expect to see him buy another sports franchise anytime soon but never say never if the price is right. It won’t be the Pittsburgh Pirates, though. No matter how much fans beg.

The Mavs are facing the luxury tax this summer, and need roster improvements. Will Cuban be willing to go deep into the tax to build a title contender? It is one of the many storylines for MFFLs to watch this offseason, and please, check back to The Smoking Cuban for all the latest.
