Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks skated through their recent matchup with the San Antonio Spurs, winning the game in blowout fashion 144-119.
While Luka continues to capture 30+ point games and is in the hunt for the MVP, fans are focused on a different scoring mark. 10,000 points.
Heading into Christmas Day, Doncic is only 11 points away from hitting this mark and gets no better opportunity to surpass this feat than against the Phoenix Suns.
Mavericks star Luka Doncic is inches away from legendary mark
If Doncic secures the 11 points on Christmas, it'll make him the seventh fastest player to accomplish this feat in 358 amount of games. For Luka to be mentioned with these names is an honor, and for him to be able to surpass a guy like LeBron James on this list speaks for itself.
Another impressive feat Luka accomplished with the win against San Antonio is surpassing Jason Terry on the Mavericks' all-time scoring list. Bumping Terry to 7th, Luka is climbing the Mavericks scoring ranks as he knocks on the door of the top 5.
It won't be too long until Doncic is passing everyone on that list, as it only took him 300+ fewer games than Terry. Eventually, he'll have every record in the books and hopefully some hardware along with it.
Doncic and the Mavericks hope to continue this positive run they're on while trying to get the team's health to 100 percent. Whether or not Luka acknowledges how consistent he's been, it's easy to tell with his numbers and the wins coming with it.
Capturing the 10k point mark against the Suns might even be more fulfilling than we envisioned as the entire team and fanbase can feel the tension between the two teams. Hopefully, the Mavericks can deliver a Merry Christmas for all Mavs fans and deliver a win on top of a big accomplishment.
