On Monday, the Dallas Mavericks faced off against the defending champ Denver Nuggets. The game was completely lopsided, and the Mavericks were holding on for dear life. They would get blown out 130-104.

From tip-off, it was clear that the Mavericks had some major flaws, with nearly half of their starters out due to injuries. Both Dereck Lively II and Kyrie Irving have missed time due to lower body injuries. Despite Irving missing a lot of time, the Mavericks are 6-3 on the season without him. However, the same cannot be said for Lively II.

Lively II's impact was truly missed on Monday night, as the Mavericks got demolished down low. The Mavericks simply cannot win without a player of Lively II's skill set, but the team could look to the trade market to gain some defensive depth.

Mavericks star Luka Doncic gives exciting update about future in Dallas

Despite the loss in Denver and the lack of defensive depth the Mavs suffered from, superstar Luka Doncic didn't disappoint. He finished the game with 38 points and 11 rebounds in the effort. With Doncic playing so well recently, this does bring into question Doncic's future in Dallas.

All offseason, fans were skeptical of Doncic's feelings in Dallas. Could he want out later down the road if the Mavericks fail to win? Despite this skepticism, Doncic gave some promising comments regarding his future in Dallas in an interview with Fox Sports' Rachel Nichols.

Fans were delighted when they saw this interview with Doncic as well as her interview with Irving. Doncic not only talks about how happy he is to be living in the city of Dallas, but he also goes on to explain how happy he is with the moves the Mavericks made over the offseason.

The Mavericks have gotten off to a 16-10 start to the season, and it showed with Doncic's play on the court. He is not only playing great, but he has also been much happier on and off the court. However, the Mavericks shouldn't get comfortable. They still need to make winning moves to keep their superstar happy.
