Thing fans learned from Dallas Mavericks 1st game with Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving: 1. Elite offense

Luka Doncic is arguably the best offensive creator in the world. The Mavericks had an elite offense when he was on the floor, but struggled mightily without him before the trade. Dallas wanted a second star, but they needed someone that could keep the offensive rolling when number 77 needed a rest. Acquiring Kyrie answered those questions and gave the Mavs an elite offense on paper.

It is elite in reality too. The Mavericks were on the second night of a back-to-back, and they still managed to score 128 points and hit 51.6 percent of their field goals. Defenses have nightmare decisions to make at every turn. They can no longer double Doncic or Irving is on the other side of the floor to feast. Dallas is also exclusively playing small, which means the floor is spaced for either player to get into the paint.

Teams will just be hoping to slow down the Mavericks when Luka and Kyrie are on the floor. There is no stopping the superstar duo, so opponents will just try to limit the damage. The Kings tried their best on Saturday night, but it took an incredible offensive performance from De'Aaron Fox and the Kings to secure the overtime win.
