Thing fans learned from Dallas Mavericks 1st game with Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving: 4. Luka’s team

Head coach Jason Kidd made it clear that this is still Doncic’s team on Irving’s first day with the Mavericks. The 23-year-old is the Batman, and the front office is hoping Kyrie can be his Robin on a championship team. Saying it is one thing, but it was clear on the court in their first game.

Doncic was running the show as the primary creator of the offense. Fans saw his incredible scoring and playmaking on display, despite him missing the last nine days of action with a heel injury. Doncic hit the ground running, and he even soared up for a putback dunk on Saturday night.

Luka played 41 minutes, but Irving led the team in shot attempts in Sacramento on Saturday night. Doncic still posted up, went to his stepback, and made a ton of plays on Saturday night. Kyrie will lighten Doncic’s workload, but that is a positive. Number 77 is still going to be one of the best scorers in the league, and now he has another superstar to draw the defense.

Expect Luka Doncic to continue producing monster numbers, and the best is still yet to come from the 23-year-old superstar. He is impossible to stop, and the chemistry with Kyrie Irving will keep improving as they get more reps together. The duo is already scary, and the sky is the limit.
