Dallas Mavericks need to give Luka Doncic a say in personnel moves

Doncic did not want a say in what was happening with the franchise in his early years, but the 24-year-old is getting more involved. He was pushing the team to add more talent at the trade deadline, and Luka knows he needs to learn to play next to another superstar if the Mavs are going to contend for the championship.

The Mavericks must give number 77 a say in personnel decisions, but he should not have the final call. Luka would have been all for offering Jalen Brunson an extension, and the Mavericks lost his three best friends on the team in one year. Doncic should have some say in not trading Dorian Finney-Smith or Boban Marjanovic.

The final decision should rest with owner Mark Cuban. Ultimately, he is signing the checks, so the billionaire deserves the right to have the final say. He should be listening to his front office led by general manager Nico Harrison and franchise GOAT Dirk Nowitzki is always just one call away.

Giving Luka Doncic more power should help to keep him happy, but the Dallas Mavericks have to do more if they want to keep the 24-year-old for his entire NBA career.
