By Noah Weber
The Dallas Mavericks finished the 2023-24 regular season with a loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on the road and they finished with a 50-32 record overall.
The Mavericks outperformed most of the media's low and disrespectful expectations from the beginning of the season, and the 2024 NBA Playoffs are just a few days away.
Dallas' first-round opponent is the LA Clippers, and the Mavs may have caught them at the perfect time due to Kawhi Leonard's foggy knee injury. There haven't been many updates on this injury, and the Mavs-Clippers series is a matchup that every fan was begging for in hopes of seeing the Mavs get revenge.
Grading every Dallas Mavericks player ahead of 2024 NBA Playoffs
Here we look back at the 2023-24 NBA regular season and give all 18 Dallas Mavericks players grades for their performances.
Every player on the roster made a contribution to the team's success this season in some way or another, and it was interesting to see how the team grew together as the season progressed.
This was a season in which the Mavs showed everyone that they could be dangerous contenders in the Western Conference, and fans should be excited about the team's potential to make a deep playoff run.
15. Dante Exum
Dante Exum has been outstanding in his first year with the Dallas Mavericks and he proved that he belongs in the NBA after spending a couple of seasons overseas.
This season for Dallas, Exum averaged 7.8 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 0.4 steals per game while shooting 53.3 percent from the field and 49.1 percent from downtown. Exum's poise and improvement as a shooter made him an indispensable piece of the Mavs rotation, and he thrived both as a starter and off the bench.
Outside of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, Exum was Dallas' most trusted ball handler. He is calm and collected with the rock and makes excellent decisions even when all of the pressure is on him. Exum's ability to play on and off the ball gives the Mavs tons of versatility heading into the NBA Playoffs, and he can share the court with Doncic and Irving or lead the offense when he needs to.
Exum has been rusty heading into the playoffs, but his overall performance this year earns him a B+. Him missing 27 regular season games due to injury definitely lowered his grade some, but that was a risk the Mavs knew about when they signed him as he has battled injuries for most of his career.
Exum staying healthy will definitely be important for the playoff run.
