5. Backup - Bismack Biyombo

Bismack Biyombo’s time with the Charlotte Hornets had many fans convinced that it would be his last NBA stop, as he was wildly overpaid for the production he was giving them.

However, after spending the past two seasons with the Phoenix Suns on minimum contracts, he’s looking like a very reliable backup center.

At just 6-foot-8, Biyombo relies on his athleticism to compete at the center position, but it makes him a solid lob threat. And despite the fact that he will be entering his 13th NBA season next year, he’ll still be just 30 years old once the season begins.

This past year, Biyombo appeared in 61 games for the Suns, starting 14 of them and playing 14.3 minutes per contest. He averaged 4.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game.

Biyombo’s solid defensive presence and ability to act as a lob threat would make him a great fit on the Mavericks. Jason Kidd needs defensive-minded guys in his frontcourt, and Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving need players to throw lobs to.

With the Bradley Beal trade, the Suns will undoubtedly be looking to bring back any depth they can, so they might want to bring him back, but he’ll be an unrestricted free agent.

This opens the door for Dallas to make a run at him, and if they could draw him away from the Suns, he would be a solid addition.
