8. Rotation - Chimeze Metu
If the Dallas Mavericks are looking to add a bit of athleticism to their center rotation, Chimeze Metu would be a solid option, especially if they want some quickness on the perimeter, too.
Metu isn’t the tallest big man, as he is just 6-foot-9 with a skinnier frame, but in a league that values versatility more and more each season, he could be a nice addition to the roster.
After playing 21.3 minutes for the Kings during the 2021-22 season, Metu fell out of favor this past year, appearing in 66 games but playing just 10.4 minutes per contest.
The 26-year-old will be entering his sixth NBA season next year and has split his career between the San Antonio Spurs (first two seasons) and the Kings (past four seasons).
With his quickness and athleticism, Metu is able to play the four as well as the five, and if he were to be playing the center position, it wouldn’t be guarding guys like Joel Embiid and Nikola Jokic.
Having Metu in the lineup would give Dallas a bit more freedom to switch on the defensive end, helping them against small-ball lineups and in transition.
He wouldn’t be a heavy minutes guy for the Mavericks, but adding him to the rotation could give them a different look at times, which is a useful commodity to have.
