2. Spencer Dinwiddie

Spencer Dinwiddie's time in Dallas may have been short, but it was extremely memorable. Most viewed Dinwiddie as being on a horrendous contract when the Mavericks traded for him and Davis Bertans in exchange for Kristaps Porzingis during the trade deadline in 2022.

However, Dinwiddie quickly became the third-ball handler that Mavericks' fans had long been coveting, as he stepped up to average 14.2 points per game whilst shooting 41.7 percent from 3-point range during Dallas' 2022 playoff run. Dinwiddie also hit a pair of game-winners in back-to-back games against Boston and Brooklyn shortly after he was acquired in Dallas, so his legacy as afan-favorite in Dallas was easily cemented after the 2021-22 season.

Dinwiddie was tasked with a much greater role in his second season in Dallas though, as head coach Jason Kidd moved Dinwiddie into the starting lineup at the start of the 2022-23 season amidst the loss of Jalen Brunson. Dinwiddie shot a career-high 40.5 percent from distance last season in 53 games for Dallas before he was traded to Dallas and was a huge beneficiary of the space provided by Luka Doncic in catch-and-shoot three-point attempts.

Dinwiddie was doing solid as a shot-creator for Dallas last season and was arguably having one of the best seasons of his career as a secondary playmaker, but he's best amplified as a ball-handler off the bench if the team he is on has two superstar guards. Dinwiddie would be playing the same role for Dallas that Dante Exum is currently playing if he was traded back here, and it's hard to see the Nets moving Dinwiddie unless they have assurance they can get another guard back.

Dinwiddie might be a candidate to get traded as Scotto wrote in his article, but the Nets would likely command guards back in a trade, and the only scenario that he lands back in Dallas is if it is in a package deal with the next candidate on our list.
