Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic is preparing for the FIBA World Cup right now, and Slovenia has their first preparation game against Greece today.
Doncic looks to be in some of the best shape of his career, and he will look to lead Dallas to their first title since 2011.
Dallas re-signed Doncic's co-star Kyrie Irving this summer, and he seems locked in on winning a title as well. The Mavs have had a strong offseason so far, and they will hopefully look like a different team once October rolls around.
Former Mavericks head coach makes bold prediction for Luka Doncic's season
Former Dallas Mavericks head coach and 2011 NBA Champion Rick Carlise was at Myles Turner's basketball camp on August 1 and had an exclusive interview with Grant Afseth of DallasBasketball.com.
In this interview, Carlisle had a bold prediction for Doncic's 2023-24 season.
"I think Luka's going to be the MVP this year."Rick Carlisle
Carlisle was Doncic's coach for three seasons in Dallas and said he's "on the cusp of being the best player in the world." Doncic has taken his conditioning to a new level this summer, and hopefully that takes his game on the court to the next level too.
Last season, Doncic averaged 32.4 points, 8.6 rebounds, 8.0 assists, and 1.4 steals per game. This was some of the best basketball we've seen from Doncic, and it seems that Rick Carlisle believes he'll be even better next season.
Mavs fans will get to see a preview of Doncic's ramped-up conditioning throughout the FIBA World Cup. This will be a great indicator of how serious Doncic has been training this summer.
