After the Dallas Mavericks’ Western Conference finals run, fans should have been super excited. Obviously, the Jalen Brunson debacle affected things, but with Luka Doncic leading the way, they should be competing for championships.

Well, that was the thought.

Dallas took a step back this past season, missing the postseason, and if they fell into that trap for a second season in a row, major changes would definitely be needed.

The Mavericks already had to take a huge look in the mirror this summer, and they revamped their roster because of it. Imagine what next offseason would look like if Dallas once again missed the playoffs.

The Western Conference is extremely talented. There are only a couple of teams who will be legitimately tanking next season, so it won’t be easy for the Mavericks.

But with Doncic and Kyrie Irving leading the way, the Mavericks have one of the best duos in the league, headlined by a guy who has made four-straight All-NBA First Teams.

Doncic is one of the best players in the world, and the fact that he missed the playoffs is unacceptable. If the team did that twice in a row, it would be unfathomable.

Missing the playoffs again next year would be a complete disaster.
