After Sunday night's win over the Houston Rockets on the road, the Dallas Mavericks are now 45-29 on the year and have won seven games in a row. Dallas now holds the longest winning streak in the NBA, and the playoffs are looking like a guarantee for the Mavs right now.

Dallas is showing that they are one of the best teams in the NBA, and outside of the Denver Nuggets, the Mavs may be the best team in the Western Conference. They are showing all the signs of a true contender, and fans are starting to look ahead to the playoffs.

It's unclear who the Mavericks will play in the playoffs here in a few weeks, but it is clear that they are a true contender.

Dirk Nowitzki gives honest and bold evaluation of Dallas Mavericks ahead of playoffs

Mavericks legend and 2011 NBA Champion Dirk Nowitzki was recently asked about the Mavs in an interview posted by WFAA, and he seems to have some faith in what the Mavs can do this season.

"I think we're very dangerous with two superstars, two top scorers in our league and everybody else knows their role," Nowitzki said. "So we can definitely be a great team in the playoffs."

Before this, Nowitzki said "hopefully we can win a few rounds," and mentioned the unpredictability of the NBA Playoffs as a whole. With the way that Luka Doncic and company are playing, the Mavs may do more than just "win a few rounds."

The Mavs are playing like they can beat any team in the NBA, and Nowitzki also discussed why the Mavs have been able to go on this massive winning streak.

"We're clicking on all cylinders, finally defending a little better," Nowitzki stated. "The offense has been great. Luka (Doncic) and Kyrie (Irving) are playing well off each other. The other guys are spreading the floor. You got the bigs rolling to the basket..."

Nowitzki hit the nail on the head when talking about Dallas' play lately, and one of the biggest factors of the winning streak has been Doncic and Kyrie Irving's togetherness, and this duo can't be stopped when they are at their best.

They have finally figured out how to effectively play with each other, especially in the clutch, and the role players have stepped up around them. When Dallas is hitting their shots, they nearly look unbeatable.

This team has taken on a new identity since the trade deadline, and fans should be excited about their potential. Dallas' next game is on Tuesday night against the Golden State Warriors.
