Dallas Mavericks rookie Dereck Lively II has had a great season so far, and he has become a key piece for Dallas right now, and for the future.

Lively II was someone that teams around the league were calling about leading up to the trade deadline, but Dallas made him untouchable. He is someone who looks as if they will be a Maverick for a long time, and his fit next to Luka Doncic has been perfect.

Lively II and Doncic are excellent together in the pick and roll, and the two obviously love being on the floor together. Finding players that fit next to Doncic is extremely important for the Mavs, and they have done a good job of doing that this season.

While Lively II has been great for Dallas, he has also missed some time due to injuries. Lively II has had multiple ankle injuries, a mild back injury, and recently broke his nose. He returned from his broken nose against the San Antonio Spurs after missing seven games, and one thing that he did during his time that he was out may shock you.

After the win over San Antonio, Lively II said that he watched film and built Legos to stay ready while being injured. Lively II said that building the Legos has helped him with his hands, and he was "making sure that (he's) always locked in."

Building Legos is something small that Lively II did while he missed time, but it sounds like it helped him with his hand-eye coordination. NBA players are always looking for little things off the floor that help them on the floor, and Legos may be that for Lively II after his recent comments.
