Dallas Mavericks' center continuously giving back to the community amid trade rumors
By Noah Weber
The NBA regular season doesn't start for another three months, but the excitement of the offseason makes it seem like it is much closer.
The Dallas Mavericks have made multiple trades this summer, and they had an exciting draft night as they selected two players in the first round in Olivier-Maxence Prosper and Dereck Lively II.
Both players are already fan favorites in Dallas, and fans are counting down the days until opening night.

Although the offseason is an exciting time, it can be a hard time as fans see their favorite players leave the team and sign or get traded elsewhere.
One move that seems inevitable at this point is the Mavericks waiving or trading JaVale McGee. Dallas signed him to a three-year contract last summer, but his services don't look to be needed in Dallas anymore as they drafted Lively II, traded for Richaun Holmes, and re-signed Dwight Powell.
There isn't room for him on this roster, and the Mavs seem to be going in another direction, as McGee didn't live up to the expectations from last summer. He lost his starting job in less than a month, and he was unplayable at times.
Even though McGee's name is constantly in trade rumors, he has been giving back to the community in every way that he can.
A few weeks ago, he gifted a young fan and mother with Summer League tickets, $1,000 cash, a pair of new shoes, and a once-in-a-lifetime meet-and-greet experience. A video of this went viral on TikTok, and it was awesome to see how happy they both were.
Not many kids get to meet a player from one of their favorite teams every day, and this was an awesome gesture by McGee.
McGee's most recent act of kindness was having a guest appearance at one of the Dallas Mavericks' GEM Hoop Camps. These camps are for all girls, and they learn about financial literacy, physical health, and mental and physical health, along with sharpening their skills on the basketball court.
McGee was a guest at the camp last week and played games, answered questions, signed countless autographs, and shared laughs with everyone at the camp. He seemed to be smiling the entire time he was there, and the kids at the camp were so excited to see him.
Even though McGee has been in trade rumors all summer, he is still giving back to the Dallas community. Things like this are bigger than the game of basketball, and McGee gives back to the community often.
Getting involved in trade rumors likely isn't easy on him, but he still gives back wheen he can.
We'll have you covered with all the news and rumors surrounding the Dallas Mavericks and JaVale McGee for the rest of the summer, so stay tuned.
