1. Kyrie Irving ends up on the Lakers

Fans have seen and heard the rumblings already. LeBron James has been recruiting Kyrie to join him in Los Angeles for months. The 38-year-old just became the all-time scorer leader, and he knows that he only has a few shots at championship contention left. He propelled the Lakers back to the conference finals in 2023, but they did not have enough talent against the Denver Nuggets.

Irving sat in the front row at two Lakers playoff games. He was there supporting his friend, but was it something more? LeBron and Kyrie won a championship together in 2016, and the duo has certainly discussed a reunion. The Lakers can create $30-plus million in cap space this summer to sign Kyrie or they can engage the Mavs in a sign-and-trade.

Would Irving be willing to let $17 million on the table to sign with the Lakers? He took less to join Kevin Durant and Deandre Jordan in Brooklyn. Fans watched him miss a massive chunk of a season for refusing to get vaccinated. Kyrie is certainly willing to walk away from some money if he wants something.

LeBron wants Irving in LA, and the eight-time All-Star takes him up on the chance to play for the Lakers. It will likely end in disaster as the franchise will have an extremely top-heavy roster, but the Dallas Mavericks will be left scrambling to try to replace Kyrie Irving as they lose their second-best player for the second straight summer.
