The Dallas Mavericks want to bolster their roster around Luka Doncic. It sparked them to trade for Kyrie Irving to bring a second star to Dallas. The Mavs are rumored to be signing Justin Holiday in the buyout market to increase their wing depth, but Dallas may not be done improving their roster.

Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Mavericks are working out LaMarcus Aldridge on Feb. 14. The seven-time All-Star is from Dallas, and he has had a Hall of Fame worthy career.

The 37-year-old was teammates with Kyrie in Brooklyn last season where he averaged 12.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.0 block in 22.3 minutes per game. Aldridge shot 55.0 percent from the field and 87.3 percent on his free throws last season, and the Mavericks want to see if he can still be a difference-maker off the bench. The 37-year-old has not signed with a team this year, but here is where he could help Dallas off the bench.

The Mavs are the worst rebounding team in the NBA this season. Their 38.9 per game is 1.5 worse than the 29th-ranked Nets. Dallas has also struggled to defend the rim, and they desperately need another trusted big man in their rotation.

The Mavs are starting Dwight Powell, but he averages just 19.8 minutes per game. Christian Wood and JaVale McGee are vying for the remaining minutes at the five until Maxi Kleber returns, but neither player has fully earned the trust of head coach Jason Kidd.

Can Aldridge give the Mavericks a strong rebounder and rim protector to turn to off the bench that is capable of scoring 12 points per game? His defensive numbers have historically been strong, and the 37-year-old could be an impactful addition as the Mavs look to make a deep playoff run. LMA will not be trusted with a massive role, but he could be key in spot minutes.

The Dallas Mavericks are just bringing LaMarcus Aldridge in for a workout. He will have to impress on Tuesday to earn a shot with the team. The Mavs would have to waive someone on a guaranteed contract to sign Aldridge. Would the Mavericks part with Markieff Morris, Theo Pinson, or Frank Ntilikina to add LMA? Stay tuned to see how he fares in his workout, and if it is enough to earn a shot with the Mavs.
