Free agent Dallas Mavericks should target in 2023: 4. Justin Holiday

The Mavs signed Justin Holiday in the buyout market this season, and he has given the team quality minutes thus far. The 6’6 wing is averaging 5.3 points and 1.0 steal in 19.0 minutes per game.

The Mavericks have Non-Bird Rights on Holiday meaning they can only give him 120 percent of his current contract to re-sign him. If they want to give him more, Dallas would have to use their bi-annual or a piece of their mid-level exception. The Mavs are Holiday’s ninth team in ten years, but it only takes one team to offer him $5-plus million.

The 33-year-old won a championship with the Warriors in 2015, but he barely played during the playoffs. Holiday would love to be a key rotation piece on a title-winning team. The Dallas Mavericks want to jump into title contention, and it could be Holiday’s best chance at competing next season, while still playing a significant role.

The Dallas Mavericks signing Justin Holiday to a minimum contract would be massive for their depth and flexibility, but can they get the 6’6 wing to agree to that deal? Justin Holiday is likely to have other suitors, but he will be a name to watch for MFFLs.
