Will the Dallas Mavericks trade for Kevin Durant?

The drama is still unfolding in Brooklyn. They could work out a long-term deal with Kyrie Irving right now, and things would immediately calm down. Are the Nets willing to give in to his demands? Do they reach some sort of compromise?

If Irving leaves Brooklyn, does Durant immediately want to be traded? The Nets will still have Ben Simmons, some talented role players, and whatever they get in return for Kyrie. Is that enough to keep KD? Only Durant knows the answer to that question.

The Nets are still the odds-on favorites to keep both Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. Assuming KD decides to demand a trade, he will likely have a short list of teams that he is willing to play for, but where would Dallas rank on his list? The Mavericks are unlikely to be his first choice, but they should be in the top five.

Dallas fans should not expect to see Kevin Durant wearing a Mavericks uniform next season. It is unlikely to happen, but there is a non-zero chance. KD could choose Dallas if he believes Luka Doncic gives him the best chance to win another championship.
