Problem Dallas Mavericks address before the playoffs: 4. Solving defenses

Teams are going to throw every look imaginable at superstar Luka Doncic in the playoffs. Fans have seen it in key games down the stretch. They use multiple defenders, send double teams, using a zone, and trying any tactic under the sun to get the Mavs superstar out of his rhythm. It will only increase in the playoffs as the stakes get higher.

The Sixers slowed the Mavericks down by using a zone defense on March 18. Expect head coach Jason Kidd and Luka Doncic to be working on how to solve that puzzle and get open shots. Luka has seen every defense, and he will figure out a way to exploit anything that gets thrown at the Mavs in the postseason.

The opposition will attempt to take LD out of the game by sending multiple players. The 23-year-old superstar is going to make the right plays, but will his supporting cast be able to knock down enough shots? The addition of Spencer Dinwiddie gives Dallas the ability to have two playmakers on the floor at all times and will help the Mavs solve any exotic defense they see.

Luka Doncic is going to get buckets no matter what defense the opposition throws at him in the playoffs, but solving different defenses on the fly will be the difference between advancing and not in the postseason.
