Absurd lineup Dallas Mavericks should try in 2022-23 season: 1. Max shooting

Luka Doncic is the best shot creator in the NBA, and the Mavs maximized that skill in the playoffs as they reached the conference finals for just the fifth time in franchise history.

Davis Bertans was interesting to Dallas because he is an elite shooter. The Mavericks were willing to take the chance on his massive contract to ensure Doncic had room to attack. The Latvian Laser cannot play a massive role because of his defense, but he can sink any outside shot.

How can head coach Jason Kidd maximize the team’s shooting and floor spacing?

PG: Luka Doncic

SG: Reggie Bullock

SF: Dorian Finney-Smith

PF: Davis Bertans

C: Christian Wood

Dallas could play Bertans at the four or the five, but Wood has the third-highest career 3-point percentage on the team. Reggie Bullock is a must in this lineup with Doe-Doe providing a second 3-and-D option around Doncic. There would be plenty of defensive questions inside, but this group would give the Mavericks the best chance to hit a three.

Head coach Jason Kidd will have to try this lineup. The addition of Wood solves the team’s rebounding issues from last season, and it gives them a deadly five-man combination for the postseason. Wood and Bertans will have to guard the opposition’s two biggest players with Doncic left to cover a shooter, but this unit may be able to outscore just about anybody.

The Dallas Mavericks have a ton of lineups to try during the 2022-23 season as Christian Wood, JaVale McGee, and even rookie Jaden Hardy improved their depth. Expect J-Kidd to use them all, and figure out what works, so Dallas is ready for the postseason.
