2018 NBA Draft: Luka Doncic with the 3rd pick

Boom. This one was obvious.

Luka Doncic is one of the best players in the NBA, and the Dallas Mavericks somehow managed to get the best player in the entire 2018 NBA Draft with the third pick.

The Phoenix Suns selected Deandre Ayton with the first pick, which made plenty of sense, as he went to Arizona and was a beast coming out of college.

Then, the Sacramento Kings slipped up, picking Marvin Bagley III second overall, which ended up being a complete and utter failure, as he looks like a bust right now.

After that, Dallas swooped in and made one of the best draft selections in recent memory.

Dallas traded up from the fifth pick, sending the fifth pick and their first-rounder in 2019 to the Atlanta Hawks, which gave them the right to select Doncic.

There was no chance the Mavericks were going to make any other pick in this hypothetical dream team scenario, as there was no better selection behind (or in front of) Doncic.

He is a top-10 (maybe top-five) player in the NBA right now and will be the leader of the Mavericks for years to come, as well as the leader of the dream team being formulated in this article.
