2020 NBA Draft: Tyrese Maxey over Josh Green with the 18th pick

With the final selection for the Dallas Mavericks’ hypothetical dream team, let’s take a look at the 2020 NBA Draft and solidify the guard rotation.

Originally, the Mavericks picked up Josh Green with the 18th pick in the draft. As of now, Green looks like one of the most important pieces on Dallas’ roster.

He’s oozing defensive potential, and his three-point stroke has finally come around, making him a very valuable commodity, especially to the Mavericks, who don’t have much youth on the roster outside of Luka Doncic.

That being said, there were a few solid players taken after him in the draft. The New York Knicks picked Immanuel Quickley at 25, and the Minnesota Timberwolves snagged Jaden McDaniels at 28.

Instead of those two, however, the Mavericks will be stealing Tyrese Maxey for their dream team, who was picked 21st overall by the Philadelphia 76ers.

Maxey looks like an absolute star, as he’s been thriving with the 76ers alongside Joel Embiid and James Harden. And with Harden’s future in Philadelphia in question, he could be getting more opportunities.

Adding Maxey to the rest of their dream team with place another guard in an already-stacked rotation, but he’s just too good of a player to pass up on in this spot.
