6. Orland Magic draft Ausar Thompson

Thompson is an outstanding athlete at 6’7 with a 6’10 wingspan. He and his twin brother are two of the best athletes in this class, and they both showed ball-handling and playmaking ability in the Overtime Elite circuit. Ausar Thompson appears a bit more NBA-ready, but there will be questions about how he can translate his game to a massive step up in competition.

Last season, Thompson averaged 16.3 points, 6.9 rebounds, 6.1 assists, 2.7 steals, and 1.3 blocks in 27.6 minutes per game. He shot just 30.0 percent from 3-point range, and his jumper will have to improve for the 20-year-old to reach his ceiling.

Ausar Thompson profiles as a scoring wing with elite defensive potential. He has the size, length, and athleticism to make plays on both ends of the floor, but how quickly can he translate his tools into production?

The Orlando Magic are flush with young talent, but they have an opening on the wing. Thompson is nearly the perfect fit as he can handle some of the playmaking duties along with being a switchable and versatile defender.

Can the 6’7 wing make enough shots to earn the defense's respect? If not, is Thompson willing to move without the ball and set screens to threaten the opposition? Either way, his athletic ability and playmaking chops make him a top-ten pick with top-five upside.
