2023 NBA Mock Draft: Mavericks land difference-maker, Victor Wembanyama heads East
By Tyler Watts
30. LA Clippers (via Bucks) draft Sidy Cissoko
The Clippers have over $200 million committed in payroll for next season, and the new CBA is more restrictive for teams spending that much money. LA needs to nail this selection, but they have the luxury of being able to wait. The Clippers have ten players under guaranteed contracts for next season, including all of the key rotation players except Russell Westbrook and Mason Plumlee.
Cissoko averaged 12.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1.0 block in 29.3 minutes per game this season playing for the G League Ignite. The 19-year-old wing showed immense defensive potential, including the ability to guard multiple positions. He also has ball-handling and playmaking abilities to go with an improving jumper.
Sidy Cissoko could be a modern 3-and-D wing with the chops to handle the ball and create for himself. The 19-year-old will need time to develop, but he could be an impactful rotation player in the NBA for more than a decade.
The 2023 NBA Draft is loaded at the top, but there are plenty of question marks in the mid to late first round. Dallas Mavericks fans will be focused on keeping their top ten pick on lottery night before shifting to adding an impactful talent. This year’s draft promises to be a franchise-altering night, so do not miss it.
